Yes. part of why this gets to me is because they mobbed up on someone, someone I respect.
And are now trying to make themselves out as victims, which furthers my disgust.

and this is one segment of life which is disgusting and should not, ever, be belittled.

I'll investigate those links though.

There are a few issues here.

There's the issue of death threats. Clearly wrong, and unfortunately, due to the presumed anonymity of the internet, too frequent.

Then there's the issue of gender. The abhorrent use of sexual and gender-based pictures and text assaults were also clearly wrong, and caused hurt.

The death threats actually caused terror, fear, and prevented Kathy from leaving her home to a scheduled event where she was the presenter.

These are two separate issues, where the group doing this used both tools.

We know that these are separate issues because death threats occur to more than just women.

http://www.littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=20760_A_Death_Threat_from_Reuters_(Bumped)&only was when a Reuters news agency employee chose to use his work internet connection and threaten or wish for the death of the author of that blog.

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=21440_A_New_Low_for_the_Progressives was when Deborah Frisch (female professor at University of Arizona) threatened the two year old child of Jeff Goldstein (male blogger living several states away in Colorado) -- http://www.proteinwisdom.com/index.php/weblog/entry/20640/ catalogs those threats.

This isn't a gender problem. Death threats are made by horrible people to men, women, and children using the internet as a vechicle for communicating these threats.

This was a group of people who set out to hurt someone and used the big tools they felt could do it, whether it was misogyny or threats against her life.
